I thought the idea of a blog was really cool, so I decided I would check it out. I don't know what I'll say on here, but it will probably be running related alot of the time. I stole the title from one of my favorite George Strait songs.

Mental Preparation
Mental preparation is key. Coach Derick gave me this book, its called Mind Gym. Mind Gym focuses on how to prepare mentally for competition. I have really taken a liking to this book. More so this season that previous ones, I have been mentally preparing for all my races. I feel like this has helped tremendously. I never really put this as a priority in years past, but I believe this is one of the key reasons I have had success this season so far. I am still dabbling with how this process works, but the main thing I have done is invisionment. I lay down, turn on some very relaxed instrumental music, and just invision how I plan everything to play out. My high school coach used to tell me to close my eyes and physically time the race with my watch, its pretty cool to try and see how close you can get to your goal time just through imagining the race in your head. This is just something I have dabbled with and it has proven successful, I hope to be able to learn more about this process and other ways to mentally prepare for competition.
